Empowered
Why I recommend it
I recommend this as the leadership companion to product craft. It makes the case that strong product teams need context, trust, and real authority to solve problems rather than merely deliver instructions.
What it changed in my thinking
It reinforced that empowerment is an operating choice. Leaders cannot ask teams to own outcomes while withholding the information, skills, or decision-making room required to do so.
Who it’s useful for
Product and technology executives, founders, and managers trying to build teams that can make sound decisions close to the customer.
A tension or limitation
Empowerment is not absence of direction. Without a clear strategy and honest coaching, autonomy can become ambiguity and leave teams carrying responsibility without support.
