The Collected Poems of Audre Lorde
Why I recommend it
This collection gives us more of Lorde’s poetry than the few pieces most often quoted. It lets us spend time with how her voice develops.
What stayed with me
The poems do more than make a point. They help put feelings and experiences into words that ordinary explanation can miss.
Who it’s useful for
Poetry readers and writers interested in Lorde’s voice and work.
A tension or limitation
A collected volume can be a lot to take in. The individual collections give another way to find your way through it.
