Nonviolent Communication
Why I recommend it
I’ve read this book more than ten times, and it remains part of my toolkit for managers and leaders. Its belief in our capacity for compassion and empathy is simple, demanding, and deeply practical.
What stayed with me
Conflict changes when I separate observation from judgment and listen for the needs beneath what someone is saying. That shift creates more room for honesty without giving up clarity.
Who it’s useful for
Managers, coaches, partners, and anyone who wants to navigate difficult conversations without turning the other person into the problem.
A tension or limitation
The framework can sound scripted when used as a formula. The point is not perfect phrasing, but the quality of attention and responsibility underneath it.
