Why I recommend it
The core practices—visualize work and limit work in progress—are simple enough to use immediately and deep enough to change how a person or team works. It makes overload visible without turning productivity into a moral judgment.
What it changed in my thinking
It helped me see focus as a system condition, not just an act of willpower. In leadership and coaching, I return to the idea that finishing more often begins with starting less and making tradeoffs explicit.
Who it’s useful for
People balancing competing responsibilities, managers whose teams are spread too thin, and coaches helping someone build a calmer, more honest relationship with capacity.
A limitation
A board can clarify the work, but it cannot decide what matters. Without thoughtful prioritization—and permission to say no—it can become a beautifully organized picture of overload.
