Supercommunicators: How to Unlock the Secret Language of Connection
Why I recommend it
Duhigg offers some simple frameworks for understanding what another person needs from a conversation. I appreciate having something practical to work with. Wanting to connect is a start, but it helps to have ways to practice.
What stayed with me
We can be talking about the same thing and still be having different conversations. One person may be trying to solve a problem while the other wants their feelings understood. Noticing that difference gives us a chance to slow down and listen differently.
Who it’s useful for
Leaders, coaches, and anyone who wants to feel more connected to the people in their lives. These ideas apply just as much at home as they do at work.
A tension or limitation
A framework can help us pay attention, but it can’t tell us everything about the person in front of us. We still need curiosity, practice, and a willingness to check whether we’ve understood.
