The Clear Habit Journal

James Clear

Why I recommend it

A little structure can make it easier to begin. Clear created this journal with Baronfig (makers of one of my favorite pens!), combining habit trackers, space for a line a day, and open pages. There’s guidance without having to fit every thought into a prompt.

What stayed with me

One sentence is a manageable place to start. We don’t need to write pages for reflection to be worthwhile, and a small practice gives us something to return to tomorrow.

Who it’s useful for

Anyone who wants to start journaling or give a habit some attention. It’s a practical companion to Atomic Habits.

A tension or limitation

This is a notebook to use, with guidance and examples, rather than a book of essays to read. Tracking can help us notice patterns, but keeping a perfect streak doesn’t need to become another thing to judge ourselves for.
