Why I recommend it

This remains useful because the human constraints of software work have changed less than the tools. It explains why adding people, compressing communication, and treating creative work like interchangeable labor so often disappoint.

What it changed in my thinking

It reinforced that coordination has a cost. A delayed project is not necessarily helped by more people, especially when the work requires shared context that takes time to build.

Engineering and product leaders, project managers, and executives making staffing or schedule decisions about complex work.

A tension or limitation

Some examples and assumptions belong to another era of computing. The enduring ideas are best separated from the organizational model in which they were written.
